Region VIII Scientific Assembly Chair

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  1. PURPOSE
    Act as a liaison between state Scientific Assembly (SA) chairs and their respective national SA section, to encourage states to have SA sections, and coordinate SA efforts and activities between states. Liaison between Region VIII Council and IMSS planning committee.
  2. TERM OF OFFICE
    3 years, coinciding with term of Regional Director
    Maximum number of terms allowed: n/a
  3. QUALIFICATIONS
    ASCLS Professional or Emeritus membership and reside in Region VIII
    Recommended experience that would be helpful to someone holding this office:
    Previous involvement as state society SA section representative or SA Coordinator, experience planning and organizing education programs.
  4. DUTIES
    Organizing SA sessions at IMSS
    Reports to: Region VIII Director
    Other duties performed: Other projects to encourage and promote SA activities within the region.
  5. EXPECTATIONS
    Meeting attendance &Travel requirements: Attend at least two (out of three) Region VIII Council meetings per year – Jackson (during IMSS), and Salt Lake City (spring) or national meeting site (summer)
    Reports: Provide written report of activities to Regional Director for each Council meeting
    Deadlines: as determined by Regional Director and IMSS Planning Committee
    Average time commitment: Approximately 3-5 hours per month
    Financial considerations: Travel expenses and registration costs to IMSS or national meeting
